Family timeline decision guide

Separate a planning estimate from an official decision

Family timeline questions often involve a date that matters medically, developmentally, or administratively. A calculator can organize supplied dates and show its arithmetic, but it cannot examine a patient, assess a child's development, interpret a record, or replace the responsible authority's rule.

Use these tools to prepare questions and understand a timeline. Keep the input method, reference date, and displayed limitation with any result you save or share.

Editorial review:

Pregnancy dates are estimates, not appointments or diagnoses

A due-date estimate changes with the starting information: last menstrual period, conception, embryo transfer, ultrasound, or a date already established by a clinician. Different methods can disagree without either piece of arithmetic being defective. Clinical care should use the date and instructions recorded by the care team, especially when ultrasound or treatment records provide information a general calculator does not have.

Baby age describes time, not development

Chronological age in weeks or months is useful for records and scheduling. It does not show whether a baby is developing as expected. Corrected age for a baby born early requires gestational information and professional context; it should not be inferred from a birth date alone.

  • Use substitute dates when testing the interface.
  • Do not send medical records through the contact form.
  • Discuss care decisions with a qualified clinician.

School eligibility follows the named authority

A school-age calculator can compare a birth date with a cutoff and identify the resulting age or cohort under the selected rule. Enrollment may still depend on jurisdiction, school type, residence, documents, exceptions, or a policy update. Verify the current official rule before relying on the result for an application.

Check how each result is classified

The label beside each tool tells you whether the answer is an exact calendar result, a rule-based result, an estimate, or entertainment.
