What a cusp date really means here
Popular date tables place a change between signs on or near a named day. This calculator uses one consistent set of simplified tropical ranges, so every supported calendar date maps to one sign. “Cusp” describes proximity to that boundary; it does not make the lookup return two signs.
Some astrologers calculate the Sun's exact longitude for a year, time, and location, which can treat transition moments differently. That is outside this date-only tool's stated method.
Element and modality are classification labels
Traditional Western astrology groups signs into fire, earth, air, or water and into cardinal, fixed, or mutable modalities. The dashboard reports those categories so the lookup is informative, but it avoids turning them into claims about an individual's behavior.
Western and Chinese zodiac questions are different
